Trance is one of the early styles of music heard at raves.
Trance music is a genre of electronic dance music and
was most popular in the 1990's. Trance is identified by a 4/4 beat
structure with tom drums keeping the primary rhythym. The tom drums are
followed by hi hats 1/16th of a beat after. Trance is also one of the
more free form genres of electronic dance music; trance sometimes
includes large sections of minimal melodic sound.
Trance artists that have defined the genre are Paul Oakenfold and Kimball Collins.
